The next posts will be in regards to our top 5 favorite cookies recipes that are also easy to make! This week we are starting off with our most popular which are Chocolate Chip. These are my go to cookies because they are quick to make and one batch makes a ton of cookies, so no need to worry about doubling recipes or anything like that.
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 & 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1 lb butter (no substitute)
- 4 eggs
- 1 & 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 & 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 6 cups of flour
- 4 Tbsp vanilla
- 2-3 packages milk chocolate chips
Blend sugars together. Then add butter and cream together. Beat in eggs one at a time. Mix in dry ingredients until well blended. Add chocolate chips. Nuts can be added if desired.
Bake on un-greased cookie sheet at 375* for approximately 8 minutes. Cookies should just barely be turning golden and still look a little doughy. Let them cool on the cookies sheet for a few minutes to finish baking.
This recipe makes a lot of cookies!
I personally like to add about an additional 1 1/2 cups or more of flour to make the cookies rise. However, be careful with adding to much flour because it can detract from the taste of the cookie or even make them dry. Usually I can tell when the consistency of the dough is a bit thicker, but I can still taste the vanilla fairly easily.
I also tend to start my timer for 7 minutes rather than 8, then adjust the time for cooking.
You can also add other items besides chocolate chips, we have used broken up thin mint Girl Scout Cookies, peanut m&m’s and
Here are a few things individuals have said about these cookies.
“From the first bite to the last savored morsel, Fife’s chocolate chip cookies will leave you wanting more! These cookies pack the perfect balance of sweetness and homemade heart straight from the Fife family kitchen that’s been serving up this treat for decades to satisfied friends and family. I dare you to eat only one, it can’t be done!”
“5 Stars! These cookies are amazing! Soft and chewy cookie perfection, with delicious chocolate chips to cookie ratio. Highly recommended by these taste buds!”
“These chocolate chip cookies are equivalent to the Girl Scout cookies that sell once a year; when she makes them I eat as many as I can because I never know when I will get them again. I turn into the modern day Cookie Monster. They aren’t as perfectly round or thin as cookies you buy in the store. They have rough edges and are a delicious mountain of heaven. I don’t know what she uses to make them so soft and chewy. The only bad thing about them is they are small cookies. I with they were bigger so I would only have to eat 10 instead of the normal 20.”
